Vincent GU, was born in Suzhou, China, and studied at the Architectural Association in London, UK. After graduating, he practiced at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in the Netherlands. He returned to Shanghai in 2010 and collaborated across disciplines with artists such as Mr. Zhang Huan, Mr. Michu, and Ms. Wang Xiaohui on urban sculpture and spatial design projects. In 2013, he founded Slow Studio.

‘As architects, we continuously draw inspiration from the bustling city, surrounding events, and deep-seated memories to refine our design philosophy, shape our design language, and perfect our design techniques.’ The essence of architecture is to provide shelter and dwelling. Therefore, we believe that slowing down is profoundly meaningful. Only then can we capture the essence of reality and eternity within the fast-paced rhythm of the present moment.

“Design in beauty, build in truth.” This is not only the motto of the Architectural Association but also our attitude towards construction.
